Home Water Filtration
Under-sink systems, whole-house filtration, RO systems, and more.
Types of Water Filtration
Not all filters are created equal. Understanding the different types helps you choose the right system for your needs and budget.

Under-Sink Systems
The most popular choice for drinking water. Installs beneath your kitchen sink with a dedicated faucet. Removes 99% of contaminants without taking counter space.

Whole-House Filtration
Treats all water entering your home. Protects appliances, plumbing, and provides filtered water at every tap. Ideal for well water or high-sediment areas.

Reverse Osmosis (RO)
The gold standard for water purity. Multi-stage systems remove up to 99.9% of contaminants including fluoride, lead, and dissolved solids.

Pitcher & Countertop
No installation required. Perfect for renters or those wanting basic chlorine and taste improvement. Replace filters every 2-3 months.
Quick Facts About Water Filtration
NSF/ANSI 53 certification is the gold standard for health-related contaminant reduction
Activated carbon is effective for chlorine, taste, and odor but not for dissolved minerals
RO systems waste 2-4 gallons for every gallon of purified water produced
Filter replacement costs often exceed the initial system price over 5 years
UV purification kills bacteria but doesn't remove chemical contaminants
Common Questions
Do I need a whole-house filter or just an under-sink system?
If your main concern is drinking and cooking water, an under-sink system is more cost-effective. If you have well water, hard water issues, or want to protect appliances and plumbing, whole-house filtration is worth the investment.
How often do I need to replace filters?
It varies by system: pitcher filters every 2-3 months, under-sink carbon filters every 6-12 months, RO membranes every 2-3 years. Always follow manufacturer recommendations and consider your water usage.
Will a filter remove fluoride from my water?
Only reverse osmosis, activated alumina, and bone char filters effectively remove fluoride. Standard carbon filters do not remove fluoride. Check for NSF/ANSI 58 certification if fluoride removal is important to you.
Is filtered water better than bottled water?
Often yes. Home filtration typically provides fresher water (no storage time), costs 10-15x less per gallon, eliminates plastic waste, and you control the filtration quality. Many bottled waters are simply filtered municipal water anyway.
