Our Review
Aquasana's Rhino line is a long-runner: the pro-grade EQ-1000 is rated for a decade or a million gallons before it needs attention, which is about as close to set-and-forget as whole-house filtration gets.
It combines activated carbon with KDF and an optional salt-free conditioner, so you can address both contaminants and scale in one footprint. The 7 GPM flow rate is plenty for most homes but worth checking against peak demand in larger households.
Pros
- Massive 10-year service interval on pro models
- Optional salt-free SimplySoft scale control
- Strong contaminant list including lead and mercury
Cons
- 7 GPM may bottleneck very large homes
- Professional install recommended for pro version
The HU Recommendation
Choose the salt-free SimplySoft add-on over a traditional softener if you want scale control without sodium or wastewater — a better fit for HU's low-waste philosophy.
